On the 26th of April ProCom GmbH participated in the Girls’ Day and thus enabled interested schoolgirls a chance to get a closer look at job positions in its Business Units, Automation and Energy.

After a sincere welcome by Managing Director Max Scheidt the girls got to know the ProCom Energy Business Unit. Subsequently, during a tour around the IT-house they gained an idea of real jobs and workplaces in the energy and automation sector.

However, the Automation Business Unit built the focus of this year´s Girls’ Day. Here, working with cutting pieces and a real cutter model head, the girls learned to comprehend the motion processes of cutting.

This was supplemented by an introduction to the CNC- and CAM-Software of ProCom GmbH in the machine test area. Thus, they got a vivid understanding how the CNC-Software converses prescribed contours in precisely adjusted motion processes of the controls.

Finally the girls learned themselves the basic commands for the programming of cutting contours and became able to program initially simple, then also complex contours with the CNC-Software.

The girls enjoyed the practical exercises so much, that they would gladly recommend the Girls’ Day at ProCom.

“I very much enjoyed the Girls’ Day, too“, reports Arne Lorenz, developer of CAM/CNC products at ProCom. “I was surprised by the ambitious and casual approach of our guests and of their quick perception. They managed to program even difficult cutting contours within a very short time without great guidance.“

The Girls’ Day is a future prospects campaign that involves technical enterprises organising an open day for girls of 10 years upwards to present a wide range of technical professions.
