ProCom GmbH takes part in Girls' Day!

05.04.2012

On the 26th of April ProCom GmbH will participate in the Girls' Day – Girls Future Day and will thus give a group of girls the opportunity to get a closer look at job positions in the fields of technology and automation.

As every fourth Thursday in April, this year the Girls' Day – Girls Future Day will take place again. The Girls' Day is especially designed for girls in grades 5 to 10 to give them an insight in job professions in which women currently represent only a small fraction. While the girls experience the world of study and career in laboratories, offices, workshops and editorial offices very closely, they learn how exciting this work can be. This time, ProCom GmbH will also participate in the day of action.

After a small introduction, in which the girls will get to know the core business activities of ProCom GmbH, they will be lead through the company´s different departments. They will particularly gain a deeper insight in the Business Unit Automation. Arne Lorenz, Development and Andreas Kahmen, Business Unit Management of ProCom Automation will explain the function and motion sequences of a CNC-machine. In addition, the schoolgirls will learn the preparation of a cutting programming. Step by step, the girls will learn how to run a cutting programme.

Although carrier fields in technical-scientific and technical-related areas offer great future prospects, the fraction of female employees is still low. To let schoolgirls fully exploit their talents, it is essential to give them the chance to create a comprehensive picture of the whole range of various career opportunities at an early stage – in particular for jobs in technical, artisanal and scientific areas. The programme thus contributes to raise the number of female employees in these job areas and to reduce the shortage of skilled workers. Furthermore, the girls establish important contacts that may be helpful for their professional future.
